I made a mistake in my original summary in which I stated in part:
I can only buy 36GB SSB packaged drives from Compaq and I cannot use
third-party Universal drives (36GB or 72GB) in the BA36R shelf in my
ES40.
Alan Nabeth corrects me:
3rd party drives are not Universal drives. "Universal"
refers to a particular Compaq specific packaging. Track
down one of the QuickSpecs and you'll see how the name
is used.
Apparently it is possible to get third party drives that are
packaged to fit some Compaq Proliant disk enclosure, but it is not
clear to me what version this is.
