NFS Server not responding even though it's not being used.

Hi,

Today I've stumbled accross a weird problem on a machine (let's call it
XXXXXXX) running Tru64 5.1, Patch Kit 3. The machine does *not* run an NFS
server. "showmount -e localhost" says "program not registered." However
the machine uses several NFS servers on the network for auto-mounting some
directories. One of those directories is my $HOME directory.

Now the problem is that programs take a very long time to start up and
additionally I get the following in /var/adm/messages:

Sep 24 10:47:07 al05 vmunix: NFS2 server XXXXXXX not responding still trying
Sep 24 10:47:13 al05 vmunix: NFS2 server XXXXXXX ok

However, XXXXXX is the localhost and additionally it does not run an NFS
server at all. Also I do *not* have any entries in my automount tables for
it. The name XXXXXXX does not occur in the automount tables at all.

Anyone any idea where this comes from and how to turn it off?

Thanks // Tom
