replacing the nic card

Folks,
   On an as1200 w/ 5.0a, i've recently replaced the network card (DE500).
It comes up as tu1 ok, and in sysman it shows that tu1 is up. However, no
network card activity.

Is there more to it than simply replacing, then rebooting?
