Mr. Becker pointed out that there was a patch I should apply.
Unfortunately, the patch didn't make the problem go away, but it was
still a good idea.

Dr. Blinn and Mr. Cohen suggest that it is probably corrupt metadata.
verify might fix it if I'm very lucky, I'll try that. Otherwise, the
solution is to move it to a new file domain using vdump/vrestore.

Dr. Blinn also mentioned that Tru64 5.x has a much better advfs
implementation and is less likely to suffer this sort of thing.

As usual, the list comes through with help quickly. The presence of
Compaq folks on here is definitely appreciated. Thanks again, folks.
