ris seems broken on 5.1A

hi,

I have an existing 4.0g RIS server which works without any problems
serving 4.0g/5.0/5.0a RIS installs. Updating the RIS utils and
extracting the 5.1A subsets were fine too. But on the client, the
installation crashes after the kernel load with 'memory fault'
errors. (the client is an xp1000 which has no hardware problems.) After
dropping to the shell, trying to execute various commands (rsh, mount,
etc) all generate a 'memory fault' error.

So perhaps RIS for 5.1A is broken on 4.0 servers. ok. I then set up a 5.1A
RIS server. The client boots fine and goes through the installation/media
extraction step. After all the subsets are installed, it gives a "cp
./etc/inittab not found" error and on subsequent reboot (to continue the
install) inittab is missing and the install stops.

Is there something I missed?

thanks,
