Hi Managers,

Scenario: ES40--DU4.0F+NHD3--KZPCC raid controller

I need to boot 4.0f from a mirror riNx configured in a
kzpcc raid controller installed in an es40 box. The
kzpcc driver for 4.0f was delivered in a later hw
delivery kit (nhd3) so is mandatory to have the os
installed

Actually the box is booting ok 4.0f+nhd3 from an rz0
disk and I can see ok the arrays configured in the
kzpcc.

I vdumped the current rz0 boot disk ( and /usr) and
try to vrestore on the riNx disk , physically on
ctrl0, id 0, lun0, one member in ch 0 and the other on
ch 1, trying to clone the boot disk but the following
arises:

- the riN disk, actually the only one configured in
the kzpcc controller appears always, as ri3[a..h] if
i booted multiuser or if i boot GENERIC and relink
and it seems to be rare. dont should it be ri0? BUT

- if i boot from the installation CD and go to Unix
shell, it appears as ri0 which seems to be the
"normal" logical name

so I'm seeing the same disk under two different
logical names ri3 and ri0 and can not follow the
normal procedure to restore root and usr in different
partitions of the same disk

( I was trying to restore booting from the cd,
restoring root , shutdown and boot generic to single
user and restore /usr )

so the questions are:
- why these two names are different?
- what is the procedure to boot 4.0f from a kzpcc disk
in an es40 box?

any help, comment, will be deeply appreciated.

thanks in advance
