SUMMARY: Alpha Server 1200s not loading 5.1

As soon as I receive a new ECU diskette (mine were not readable), I will
give this a shot.

PROBLEM:

With any SRM -- 5.5, 5.7, 5.8 -- Tru64 5.1 will not boot off of CD for
installation on the Alpha Server 1200.

[stuff deleted]

We are testing the install on a spare 2Gb drive (all other drives
removed). Testing 4.0D on this spare drive -- CD booted without a
problem.

SOLUTION: (thank you Tom Webster)

Locate a UNIX/VMS ECU (EISA Configuration Utility) floppy and run the
utility. Most likely your box was configured using an NT floppy. It
doesn't appear to make any difference with 4.x versions of Tru64, but
5.x will not boot.

It doesn't make any difference if you don't have any EISA or even ISA
cards in the box. There is something in the NVRAM settings that needs
to be set such that Tru64 5.x can boot, and the NT ECU disks do not
configure it in that manner.
