Thanks to Rainer Wolf who made following reply:

you can try
'lmf reset 0'

... if it does not work you may use a wrong license/you don't
have enough points ... it maybe a license for a Workstation or so ...
if you can modify the points you may increse them ( i think if mod_units is
set
)

The following worked for me:
# lmf reset
---> showed me the license whioch had not enough units
lmf modify <lincense name>

--> set "Number of Units =0" (unlimited)

exit
The next lmf register will have the lincense up.
This is of course only a workaround and you will have to
consult your sales people if you are alowed to keep that.
