Reassign device names

Hi!

Have a problem with the device name on a tape station on a GS60 running
V5.1 that is surely solvable but I'm not quite sure how.

The tape station was replaced two weeks ago since it had broken
down. Then I used 'hwmgr redirect scsi -src "old_hwid" -dest "new_hwid" to
still get it called tape1 (tape0 works ok). However when I was forced to
reboot the machine earlier today I failed to get access to the tape
station but I managed to get access to it until after I had deleted tape1
(with HWID 83). Then when I rescanned the scsi bus I got a tape2 and now I
don't seem to be able to get back my tape1. I have used 'hwmgr -delete
component -id "HWID"' which according to the man-page should remove all
occurences of the component from all databases in the system. And it does
seem to do that (including removing device files) but it still fails
to recreate a tape1. The only strange thing I can see is in the beginning
of /etc/dfsc.dat where it currently reads:

[snip]
I: tape 6
[snip]

which would indicate that the next time I do this procedure (delete,
rescan) I would get tape6 (I currently have tape5). How do I get the
system to restart at tape1?

Compaq support has been with me during all these steps including giving me
the suggested way to rename the tape the first time (impossible now since
it is deleted and really gone from the hwmgr-view at least) but I don't
get that many suggestions right now and soon I will have to decide whether
I should change in the backup-scripts or not.. =)
