SCSI LUN's more tha 0-7?

I have an external RAID controller (CMD 5440) attached to a Tru64 5.1 host
with an Intraserver SCSI adapter (Tru64 itpsa driver). Until now, I have
had a single RAID set with 8 LUN's (0-7). The Alpha console and Tru64
treats these LUN's as 8 physical drives (rz8, rzb8 ... rzh8).

I recently added another RAID set, which the CMD controller treats as and
additional 4 LUN's (8-11). Neither the Alpha console nor Tru64 recognize
these LUN's. I find ambiguous information in the archives regarding the
ability of Tru64 to resolve LUN's beyond 8 (0-7). I see messages
referencing much higher LUN's in the context of HSZ RAID controllers.
Are higher LUN's supported? If so, under what circumstances?

Thanks,
