I know this is not exactly about Tru64, but it does relate. Basically, we are running Informix on our boxes , but the box can't handle the amount of Informix traffic it receives. So what we are doing is having our software people re-code our application to make use of multiple informix instances. Each of these instances we be running on a separate Tru64 sub-server, and evantually funnelling down to our main Tru64 server. What I need is some suggestions as to what hardware is out there that people would recommend. Our main servers are all Compaq ES40. These new "sub-servers" would not need to be nearly as powerful--it's pretty much only running Informix. We were thinking about the alphastation DS10, but they are a bit pricey for what they will be used for. So anyone recommend anything else? We are looking to buy around 5 or 6 for now--with potential to buy more if the whole plan works. Any suggestions would be great.
