        Hi ,

I've a very big problem with a file system .

        here is the context :

        3 Alphaservers 5.1pk3 , 5.1pk3 & 4.0Fpk6

I had an Advfs file system prof_dmn#prof_fs

        profs_dmn#prof_fs 71132000 18829348 52187840 27% /prof
local on a 5.1 server and exported by NFS to the others.

I had a problem on one of the NFS client :

vmunix: NFS3 RFS3_GETATTR failed for server phobos: RPC: Timed out

I was unable to access to the mounted file system.

        up to there , I suspected a NFS / network Pb ....

        BUT :

the server machine seems to run fine and when I access the /prof fs on the server
        the session crashes.
There are others FS exported front this server and I can access to these others
        FS on the clients.

The Pb seems to be local the the fs profs_dmn#prof_fs .

I've done a verify , defragments ... a vdump and vrestore from one machine
to another (also in 5.1 ) but the Pb is always there . I even tried to tar/detar files
        to a new domain .
I did not try to move this FS on the 4.0F machine, perhaps it could help.
I now suspect a size Pb . is this fs too big for NFS ?
I've got biggers FS exported and used with no Pb but these FS are on the 4.0F machine.

could it be a FS size Pb on the 5.1 server ?

There is nothing in the logs on the server and even a soft reboot does not succeed,
I must powerdown the machine to reboot.

                TIA , Reg/
