hi,

i've been trying to configure an xp1000 running Tru64 V4.0F to be network capable.

background: this machine has been out of commision for ~ 1 year since the boot drive failed. it has never been configured for the network.
i've replaced the boot drive and reinstalled the apps. the users would like to be able to move data between this workstation and a pc.

the network consists of the xp1000, a 10baseT hub and a pc. (no other connections since the network drop in that room apparently has
a short in it)

the xp1000: IP: 192.168.1.30 netmask: 255.255.255.0
the pc: IP: 192.168.1.29 netmask: 255.255.255.0

i see the tulip interface display a auto negotiation message during bootup
however, i can't ping between the two machines in either direction.

link lights come up on the hub for both machines, but i don't seen any transmit/recieve/collision light activity.

do i need to configure the tulip/ethernet interface at the srm level??

what am i missing?? i've configured my hp workstation with the
same networking information using the same hub and pc and
am able to ping and ftp from the pc, but not with the alpha.

any insights would be appreciated
