My original question was:
Is the alpha/tru64 platform compatible with 32 bit SCSI controllers. I see
that the xp1000 has several 32 bit PCI slots and was wondering about the
installation and use of an Adaptec AHA-2940 PCI wide controller. This isn't
crucial, I was just wondering if it works, which pci slot to use (32 or 64)
and how to set it up if it's possible... All I'm needing this for is to use
an old external wide SCSI dat drive to get some files... TIA!

No, this adapter is not supported by either Compaq or Adaptec. I looked for
drivers before posting and should've included this info.
