Hello... I'm sure that the answer is not 'when you get older' either.
I'm running a 4100 on tru64 4.0G. Lately, it appears that swap is getting
maxed, (8 gb's) and that physical memory (2 gb) is getting maxed out too
(tends to run into less than 20% available). I've tried a bit of system
tuning to get things under control, but nothing seems to free up more
memory... the result is that users are having their X windows crash (10+
users using Reflections to X window to server). We are running what is
basically a CAD application that is very processor (a single 600 mhz)
intensive (semiconductor design). So the question is... what needs to be
upped? Is it the physical memory or the swap? Is there a way to have the
system access swap earlier - it tends to eat up physical memory much faster
than swap, as if it accesses only the physical first and then to swap...
Help?
