Thanks very much to Davis Alan ,only he gave me response.
My question is :
I just want to upgrade my work environment from an Alphaserver 4100 with
tru64 4.0D to an Alphaserver ES40 with tru64 4.0F,there is a sybase
database running on 4100,the data all in a raw device, when I now make
4100 and ES40 together to be a new cluster,I want to know that:
1.For the cluster license for 4100 is different from ES40,can I use the
same license of ES40 on both box to make cluster?
2.When I upgrade my OS,should I resetup my sybase database?Or can I use
my data after upgrade to an RA3000 StorageWorks?
The answer is:
If I remember correctly, Available Server and Production Server clusters
(v4.0x) don't support database files on raw partitions except under LSM.
You would have to create LSM raw partitions and migrate the data. You may
want to consider converting to filesystem-based storage, the speed
difference isn't an issue in 90% of applications and it's much easier to
manage.
As to licenses, if the number of units is at least the minimum for the
platform, or if you have MOD_UNITS, you can use it. However, if you don't
have licenses for each system separately (with the correct number of units
for each system) you are in violation of the license terms.
Configuring a cluster is non-trivial. It's quite often worthwhile to bring
in a consultant, Compaq or otherwise, to make the transition smoother.
