Hi Admins:
The solution to my problem was as follows:
I got totally back on track simply by using the command:
/usr/local/samba/bin/smbpasswd -a username
this reenters the userid back into the smbpasswd file.
it then asks you for a new password(which I entered) and I was able to
connect to the shares normally.
I would like to thank Michael Acklin and Tony Brown.
Original question:
Hello Managers:
I am trying to add more users to the SMB passwd file so SAMBA recognizes the
passwords. It is my understanding that this is done by the following
command:
cat /etc/passwd | mksmbpasswd > /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd
Can anyone enlighten me on this subject, that is, how to add more clients so
SAMBA recognizes network clients, userids, and passwords. I am running
SAMBA-2.0.5a. Thanks...
