Graphics problem with AS2100 and 5.1

Hi....
 
  I have a Alpha Server 2100 with the EISA qvision graphics card. I can't
get XDM/X to run on it. Attempts to do so brings up a black screen with
a 'aqua colored' blob where the mouse pointer should be (the mouse moves it).

  Any idea on this? Thanks.....I know it worked with 4.x.
