problem display graphics locally with Mozilla 0.9.x

Dear OSF guru,

On our three xp1000 workstations running 4.0g, the web browser mozilla 0.9.x
fails to display graphics (such as jpeg) correctly on a local X display (on
the local console). However, if I start mozilla on a remote machine and have it
displayed on my local console, everything appears to work just fine.

Does anybody see this problem before? Do you have any work around?
