creating a warm backup box with rsync

Managers,

I have installed rsync on two boxes and have a script which is happily
syncing a single directory through ssh. I did this to test my setup of
rsync. I am pleased with what I have thus far.

I have two boxes. A DS20E is my primary serving running a Progress
database. My secondary server is a DS10 which will be located offsite to
serve as backup. The DS10 was setup prior to my receiving it. Therefore
it does have an install similiar to the primary box in terms of database
and apps. BUT NOT users, kernel tuning, printers, patches, etc. I need to
first duplicate the primary server (apps, databases, users, etc) to the
primary server. Then I need to daily sync the primary server to the
secondary server. I am looking at initially syncing approximately 6 gig of
data between the two, then syncing daily in the wee hours of the morning.

My question is are there any caveats I need to be looking for in doing
this? The file systems on both boxes are the same in layout, BUT do differ
in size slightly.

>From what I gather rsync is a viable method of doing this, but am
concerned I am over simplifying this. Your thoughts and input very much
appreciated.

Regards,
Mark
