Hi Admins,
OK, this is message 3 w/o summaries, but I'll get them all. My question is
this two-fold concerning 4.0g:
1.) I changed video cards in an older alpha because of corrupt RAM on the
card. The new card is actually older (and yes it is supported) and is a
cirrus logic card. The old card (which is newer than the one I replaced it
with) is an S3 trio64 (4MB). The system boots just fine, but X won't
initialize and it falls back into single user mode. Probably (if X is
anything close to X-Free86) just the wrong X-server. So, where is this
config done? I tried the setup program on command line to setup X, but it
does no good.
2.) Once this is fixed, where are resolutions set in the config files? I
looked at older summaries, but they say that adding a file from
/usr/dt/config/Xservers over to /etc/dt/config/Xservers should fix the
problem after appending the correct resolution, but this did nothing for
me?...
