Hi managers,
We are running several Alpha systems with 4.0-F and PK5. On one of our
systems we are experiencing problems with a continuous increasing amount of
wired memory. After measuring the increase for a certain amount of time we
were able to determine that the increase of the total amount of wired memory
was mostly based on the increase of malloc pages (derived from the last
lines of the 'vmstat -P' output in which a breakdown of wired pages is
given).
We are trying to figure out what causes the increase. But the fact that it
only occurs on one system which runs an application that is also run on
several other systems where we don't see the problem makes things more
complicated.
I wonder if any of you out there has had similar cases of increasing memory,
or has any thoughts on ways to get to a solution. I realize we are not using
the latest patch-kit (PK6) but I've looked into the release notes of this
patchkit and wasn't able to find any references for this problem. We have
also been looking on increasing resident set sizes of the processes but this
also didn't helped us any further.
Regards ,
Gert-Jan Hilbrands
