Hello Admin wizards,

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

credits go to Thomas Blinn and Richard Loken - Thank you, it works
perfectly now!

original question was:

is it possible to use an old 24needle Printer (IBM Proprinter) to the
parallel port of a DEC Alpha 1000/333 / True64 4.0f ?
It seems that the parallel port is not /dev/lp0 as I would have expected
from Linux
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Answer was:

As root, cd into /dev and then do ./MAKEDEV lp

The parallel port should be be /dev/lp0
as you expected. Check out these man pages

        ports(7)
        lprsetup(8)
        MAKEDEV(8)

and the system administration manual of course.
