Re-creating system disk from scratch with Networker/DLT backups

13 months ago we demonstrated our Disaster Recovery Plan to our client
by taking backup tapes (8mm, created with vdump) up to Philadelphia and
successfully re-created our system on an AlphaServer provided by a
company which is in business to provide backup sites (Sungard). I
booted from the install CD, got a "root shell," did a little MAKEDEVing,
mounted each disk in turn to /mnt, and vrestored from the 8mm tapes.
Some fiddling around, a few reboots, and we were able to demonstrate
that we could successfully carry on from Sungard's site.

We're running 4.0F on a DS20.

Now we need to demonstrate this again. But in the meantime, we've gone
to backups done by Networker onto DLTs.
        - How do I "bootstrap" using Networker backups?
        - Is Networker bundled into the OS? This was acquired before my time.
I note that
there is a Networker distribution on the Associated Products CD.
        - There is an on-disk index, which Networker would not have access to
until after it
restored the file system that contains the index.
        - The System Administration manual in the 4.0F HTML documentation isn't
much help.
I recall seeing a Networker manual which hinted at restoring an
entire file system or
disk, but didn't give any details; and now I can't find the manual.

                Thanks,
                Hugh
