Alpha 2100 hang and then memory errors on reboot

I am building an Alpha 2100 with V4.0F of Tru64 (restored from another
system) and am now finding it totally hangs (including the console)
intermittently, requiring me to push the reset button.

I have had it running in single-user mode for a number of days without
problem. When in multi-user mode, or even sometimes just going from
single-user to multi-user mode it hangs. It does not always hang at the same
spot.

When it does hang and I push the reset button errors similar to the
following (sometimes) come up:
Testing Memory Bank 1
***Error - Memory Board 0 ***
Failing address: 12000020
Bank Number: 1
ASIC ID: 0
Error Type: 0
Error Syndrome: 0000094f

***Error - Memory Board 0 ***
Failing Address: 1a000020
Bank Number: 1
ASIC ID: 0
Error Type: 0
Error Syndrome: 0000094f

I guess it is probably bad memory, but I would like to be sure before I call
Compaq out.

Any suggestions?

TIA,
Mark
