Hallo,
Iam upgrading an Alphaserver 1000 5/400 from Tru64 V4.0D to V5.1A. The
firmware version is
6.0. I followed the following procedure:
1. shutdown and restart to single user mode
2. upgrade from V4.0D to V4.0G
3. upgrade from V4.0G to V5.1 in single user mode - worked ok -
3. When I try to upgrade from V5.1 to V5.1a Iam having problems with
mount CD command. I did the following
and got the following error. In multiuser mode I could mount CD and
read CD without any problems.
a. boot -fl s
b. bcheckrc
c. swapon -a
d. /sbin/installupdate /dev/disk/cdrom0c
Searching for distribution media...
ERROR: Unable to mount /dev/disk/cdrom0c on /updmnt
The installation media for the Operating System product could not
be located at /updmnt.
Exiting the installupdate process
When I execute the command 'ps aux' on this system in single user mode
I had only the following process running:
/sbin/init -a
[kernel init]
I checked on another machine the process running (V4.0G) in single
usermode and found that
Iam missing one process on upgrading(Alpha 1000) machine:
/sbin/kloadsrv.
I started this with hte command :/sbin/kloadsrv
Now I could start upgrade.
Question:
1. Why the system is not started this process?
2. Whether my upgrade is okay now?
3. Have I missed any programs during the first second upgrade? I did
only update without installing any additional
SW products till now. The upgradefrom V5.1 to V5.1A is running now.
Comments will be appreciated.I have to
upgrade number of machines afterwards.
with regards,
Kumar
