Hi All,
Has anyone had problems backing up Oracle 8.1.7.1 datafiles with vdump.?
We are running Tru64 Unix v5.1 pk3 and are trying to cold (ie database down)
backup the datafiles. The datafiles are 20GB in size and at some point
during backup of one of the datafiles, we get a floating point error and
vdump coredumps.
I have encountered this problem on both an ES40 and a DS20 using both a
40/80 DLT (Quantun 8000 I think) and a TZ88.
Has anyone out there seen this problem and been able to resolve it ? it
doesn't appear to be a hardware fault as the rest of the file systems seem
to backup OK
The only (vaguely) helpful solution I have so far is to rebuild the Oracle
tablespace, but it's only 2 weeks old, and now in daily use.
Thanks and Regards.
Phil
