Can't create core file ...

Hello Managers,

     We have Alpha 800 running Tru64 5.1 and we ran system build ,which
didn't complete with the following errors :-
Can't create core file, system version limit reached.
I saw ulimit and the core is set to unlimited.
df -k shows that 58 % is used .
Any idea ,where else I should look into ?
