The following is FYI only
I have repeatedly had the disklabel issue that Xavier has had plus
others,
(running on a 2xGS60E cluster running 5.1 + patch kit 3)
including:
(i) error 1024 on reading &/or writing a disklabel
(ii) disklabel command hanging and not killable
COMPAQ Australia BCS currently reports no solution is available.
Our only workaround so far has been to:
(i) disable LSM permanently, ie. revert to h/w RAID
(ii) reboot anything from the node the command is running on up to a
full cluster reboot.
COMPAQ Australia BCS stats that running hwmgr scans, disklabel in the
wrong order
can cause the problem to occur.
My experience suggests that o minimise the problem use the following
procedure:
If the disk is a h/w storage set, wait until it finishes constructing
before scanning it.
Run 'hwmgr -scan scsi' sequentially one node at a time on each and
every cluster node.
( suggestion: to monitor hwmgr progress, in another window on same
node run: evmwatch -A -t "_at_timestamp [_at_priority] _at_name _at__at_" )
Only after the scan is run on ALL nodes, create the disklabel,
preferably on the last node scanned.
