Is there any way to run console CDE without running rpc.ttdbserverd?

Hello,

I have been having problems with rpc.ttdbserverd since I started using
TCP wrappers for our machines, disabled telnet/ftp in favor of ssh etc.
There is no problem as far as remote usage (except remote X logins of
course) is concerned. On the console, however, the rpc.ttdbserverd/TCP
wrappers combination has caused CDE login problems. In another (possibly
irrelevant) case, we have had corrupted TT_DB databases and related
problems.

Is my diagnosis correct? Actually, rpc.ttdbserverd seems to be more of a
security risk than it is worth; so I would like to get rid of it anyway.
However, we do use NFS, so your suggestion should not disable all rpc
services. Somehow, I need to reenable remote X logins to at least
selected machines as well, even though it seems to have an
authentication mechanism that is similar to telnet.

Thanks.
