I want to thank everyone that has replied already. Several responses have
suggested that I use symbolic links. I actually have tried this and I would
have to create links for several other files as well. If that is the only
fix then I will end up doing just that, but I was hoping for something a
little cleaner. I know I am asking a lot, but I was just hoping the app
would work the way it is suppose to. ;)

Subject: Samba & Tru64 experts

I have been beating my head on the wall for the last couple of days on this
one. Every time I think I got it, "bam" same thing.

I am trying to install Samba on a GS160 running V5.1 Tru64 . A pretty
simple task by most experience. What is making this troublesome is that I
do not want to install in the factory default directory. Instead of the
standard /usr/local/samba, I need to install in /u01/app/samba.

During my configure step I am specifying a prefix.

./configure --prefix=/u01/app/samba

Everything seems to work all of the files are installed in the correct
locations, but when I attempt to insert the box into the NT domain I get
this error message.

Load smb config files from /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf
params.c:OpenConfFile() - Unable to open configuration file
"/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf":
        No such file or directory
Error loading services.
root_at_joshua:/u01/app/samba/bin => Load smb config files from
/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.confparams.c:OpenConfFile() - Unable to open
configuration file "/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf":
        No such file or directory
Error loading services.

(this is actually the error message from the testparm, but it is the same
with the smbpasswd)

I have looked high and low for a configuration file or an environmental
variable that is calling /usr/local/samba, but I am at my wits end. If
anyone has a heads up on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
