Hi Managers,
        SYS info: DEC alpha 3000/400, Tru64 4.0D.
I had a power-cut yesterday and was stung by the fact that my
terminal connection to the above server is through a WIN NT box
using Hyper-Terminal. Of course the NT box isn't on to a UPS so it
wasn't possible to gracefully shut-down the server. So I have been
looking for a way to protect myself in the future.
NOTE: The ups software on that server has been disabled because it
appears to be responsible for some database crashes we have had in
the past.
I have an old WYSE (model WY120) terminal that I would like to get
working on the server. The server has, what I would describe as a
RJ11 socket, at the back for serial connections. With the cables I
currently have the only connection that is possible is to patch the
server into the patch panel, and run a cable from the patch panel to
the back of the terminal. I do get a prompt but the prompt keeps
scrolling down as if the it was receiving CR.
So the question is, do I need to do some other configuring with the
termcap file or at the boot prompt to start communicating with the
server?
FYI, there is no reference to wyse120 in the termcap file.
Any advice going??
thanx.
Dp
