continue the boot process

On an Alpha 1000 running 4.0D, connected to external storage cabinet with
HSZ40 controller I have several stripesets built
I had a drive go out on a stripeset, I rebuilt the stripeset from the HSZ,
but failed to (actually did not have the opportunity to) remove the disk
entry from fstab, so when I attempt to restart the system, fsck fails and it
sends me to single-user mode.

How can I get the entry out of the fstab - or tell it not to bother checking
and let me finish the boot so that I can deal with this. This is not the
root device and the box is a test system, so I am the only user.

Any assistance is appreciated.
