My question is

>I want to known the compatibility of DAT 4mm DDS3 with tru64-unix .
>I have proposition with DAT tested for sun station... and not for digital...
>the reference is DAT DDS-3 12/24 Go SCSI.
>But no reference constructor like HP...
>
>It is dangourous for me to purchase that kind of DAT?

The answer is:

Compaq offers a DDS-3 12/24 GB tape drive on all Alphas

all the other answers are of the same kind.

A other answer is:

Tru64 UNIX can be made to work with almost any SCSI DAT tape device
by adding appropriate "dynamic device recognition" or DDR database
entries (there is a reference page for the database and the utility
you use to manage it:

ddr.dbase (4) - Text database file of SCSI CAM device definitions
ddr_config (8) - Compile and display the SCSI CAM I/O device database
)

However, if the vendor can't tell you how to make the device work
with a Tru64 UNIX system, then you can avoid the challenges that
come in trying to make it work by purchasing a Compaq labelled and
supported device, or a device from a vendor who does guarantee it
will work.

Thanks very much!!!
