Admits,
I have a question on the results of a ipcs -am.
>From the output there is a column for seg size for each segment. I am assuming
that this reported in bytes, and if this is true can I add all of the columns
to find out how much memory is used for shared memory. Then if that is also
true if this value if greater than physical memory it must be allocating into
swap....
Reason that I ask is for performance... This box runs like a dog, examining
collect statistics I noticed that free memory dips into the 20-50 page range and
I'm getting 30-150 page/outs per second on occasion during that time. I have
the default values for UBC also, will changing these help. The swapping has
been set to lazy, the application notes claim this will give better performance.
Oh BTW..
Its a 4100 4 cpu ev5.6 533 2 GB of RAM, Tru64 5.1 patch kit 3.
