Quick Question, performance decrease moving from 4.0d to 4.0f

Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but I've just been thrown into learning
Unix quicker than I expected. Anyways, here is the setup:
Alpha 4100 with 2/533 and 2 gig RAM
4.0f with cumulative patch kit
Progress 8.3b and MFG/PRO 8.5e.

Database sits on a RAID 0+1 set, and is taken offline at 2 am everynight for
a backup using the progress probak util. Before the upgrade to 4.0f it
would take approximately an hour to backup to a different drive, now after
the upgrade it takes about 2 hours, and seems to take longer everyday. Now
here is the kicker, after moving to 4.0f we purged about 20% of our records
in the database, and it is taking just as long.

Are there any known performance issues with 4.0f? I appreciate any help at
all. Thanks!
