how to remove disks from the OS

hey everyone;
i just removed a 2GB RZ28 and installed a new RZ29 and the OS now calls my
new disk /dev/disk/dsk3
how can i make it refer to it as /dev/disk/dsk2? can i just delete the
device files in /dev or is there a neat DEC tool for this?
