Summary: Upgrade to 5.1 or try to integrate HP?

I had several responses all varied and I appreciate all of them

Some said if you are going to migrate look at either a Linux option or
go with something you already have like an RSC6000 server)

Don't go with HP because their systems are going the way of the Alpha
just wait and see.

The best response I got is that I can stay with my current version until
I unplug this machine for the final time. I am not adding new hardware
only supported in v5.x nor is any of my software haveing problems that
an upgrade will fix or any of the patches for v5.x. No hurry and if I
wait then servers might come down in price so just wait it out and see
what is going to happen and then decide from there.

Original Question:

I know this is still in the works and after reading an earlier email
today. I just want to be clear what I have to do to get my server in
compliance with support.

I have an Alpha Server 2000, running Tru64 Unix 4.0g. On this server we
are running a 90% modified version of the sigma-micro controller. (Most
of their users are running on AIX on RSC6000 etc)

What options do we have. There are probably a lot of users who are in my

situation or nearly. Whatever software they are running is not supported

on 5.x.

Do we continue on with the upgrade to 5.1 or do we investigate the HP
option? If we do the HP or AIX won't that involve new hardware??

Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
