Ok...simple enough. The bounds file is created in /var/adm/crash after the first system crash, and it simply tells the system what number to name the crash files. Nobody knows why the system was complaining about not having the BOUNDS file (seeing as how the system has not crashed...yet), but I just touched the file, and put a 0 in it. Systems seems fine now. Thank you for all who replied.

Subject: BOUNDS file?
I'm getting an error at the end of the bootup procedure on a new install of 5.1 on an ES40. The error reads:
Unable to access BOUNDS file: /var/adm/crash/bounds
There is nothing at all in the crash directory--I thought it was supposed to be empty until the machine crashed (which it hasn't). Nothing seems to be wrong with the system...but does this error mean anything to anyone? I have a software call into compaq, but this list usually answers questions much faster (and I would like to get home at some point today).
Any info would be great.
