the response I generally got. This worked:
Steve, try the following on the Alpha 500:
Add client to the Xserver:
unix> xhost +server_name -- where server_name is the hostname of machine
Then you need to set the display:
unix> DISPLAY=server_name:0.0 -- where server_name is the hostname of
machine
unix export DISPLAY
And try again
This was my problem
