Hello Admins,
I got a lot of great responses and I truly appreciate them all. The one
which did the trick however was a small C program which was written by Scott
Fafrak. It does exactly what I wanted it to do, which was to extract the
systems serial number.
Thanks again to everybody and a huge thanks to Scott.

Todd,
Attached is gzip'd C program that I wrote which will extract the system's
serial number.
# gunzip sys_serial_num.c.gz
# cc -o sys_serial_num sys_serial_num.c
I hope that this helps.

Subject: machine/motherboard specific identifier from Tru64 unix
Hello gang,
I have a developer that is asking me for a specific identifier per machine,
or per motherboard that can be derived from a tru64 os function call.
Anyone have any ideas?
