Problem with CDE after upgrade to v5.1A

I recently upgraded my Tru64 DS10 from v5.1 to v5.1A. The upgrade appeared
to go smoothly. However, now I'm having trouble using CDE. I'm connecting
from a Windows system using StarNet's X-Win32 (v5.13f). I have not changed
the configuration on the Windows side and it used to work fine.

When I first connected I got a mixture of fonts, some CDE fonts and some
not. I found that odd. I'm using the font server on the Tru64 system to
serve CDE fonts to my Windows system and that has been working fine. I was
able to log in okay and some applications worked yet others didn't. For
example dtcm wouldn't come up, yet the CDE calculator did. The CDE
terminal window wouldn't come up at first, but later it did. In the CDE
error log I see things like:

04/09/02 09:55:29 (/usr/dt/bin/dtexec) /usr/dt/bin/dtcm

X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont)
Serial number of failed request: 569
Current serial number in output stream: 570

I logged out and restarted my X server. The second time I saw all the
correct fonts in the login dialog. However, right after I saw "Starting
Common Desktop Environment" the session closed immediately. I saw the
following in the CDE error log:

Tue Apr 09 09:56:47 2002
Workspace Manager: I/O error on display:: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0

I just tried it again and got the same effect (with the session ending at
once). In the start log I see:

--- Tue Apr 9 10:04:52 EDT 2002
--- /usr/dt/bin/Xsession starting...
--- Xsession started by dtlogin
--- Reloading host access via dxhosts
--- sourcing /home/pchapin/.dtprofile...

--- Starting /usr/dt/bin/ttsession -s
--- Starting /usr/dt/bin/dtsession
--- not sourcing /home/pchapin/.profile (see /home/pchapin/.dtprofile)
X connection to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

Yet, early this morning I was able to at least log in okay. Hmmm.

I checked the font server and it is running and it's configuration seems
unchanged since before the upgrade. Any idea what the problem might be?
Could there be a problem with my X server that is only manifesting itself
under v5.1A?

TIA
