Big problems getting X-server to start on display:0

Hi,
I'm having a big problem getting my X-server started again after upgrading
from Tru64 4.0f to 4.0g. After the update, the :0 display won't work. I'm
sitting in front of the machine and the message is given "The X display
manager could not start the X-server. Try pressing the Return key..." When
I check the error log file in /usr/var/X11/xdm/xdm-errors, I see messages
of:

     Fatal server errror:
Failed to establish all listening sockets
xdm error (pid 706): server unexpectedly died
xdm error (pid 706): Server for display:0 can't be started, session
disabled

I am trying to run xdm, but I get very similar messages when trying to run
cde and the same inablity to start the X-server.
When I try to login using an X-emulator from my PC such as Reflection X,
everything works just fine! The graphics card is a comet (ELSA GLORIA). The
machine is an xp1000. I have a similar setup on my DS20E (ELSA GLORIA,
4.0G) and that seems to work just fine.
If anyone has any pointers, I sure would appreciate it. I have looked
through the archives without success.
Thanks,
Bruce
