SUMMARY: Boot error on AS 500 & finding an ECU diskette

I didn't receive any responses on this "Unknown clock freq 266 divisor set
to a" message. However, I proceeded to load the OS and everything seems
to work OK. I believe this machine is actually a 500/266 machine, even
though the case states it is a Alphastation 500/333.

On the ACU, the one reponse I received stated that the ACU diskette is the
same regardless of model, so if you have one for, say, an AS2100 it should
work on another Alpha. Since the code on the ACU diskette is licensed by
Compaq from another vendor, so the way to replace this diskette (in
accordance with license terms) is to contact Compaq for a replacement.

Thanks,

Tom

Subject: Boot error on AS 500 & finding an ECU diskette

I have just inherited an Alphastation 500 333 MHz that I am trying to get
running. I would appreciate any help on the following questions.

First, when I boot the machine, I receive the following message just
before it gets to the boot prompt (the chervon prompt) - I am not sure
what the message means or how to correct it. The message is:

 Digital AlphaStation 500/266 Console V7.0-10
        built on Mar 17 1999 at 19:01:03
Unknown clock freq 266 clock divisor set to a

Since I would expect the clock frequency to be 333, this message is a bit
disturbing.

Second, I did not receive the ECU diskette with the system. This system
is also not under contract, although I do have other systems under
contract (so I have firmware CD's, etc.). How can I create an ECU
diskette? (I believe I have an ECU diskette for an AlphaServer 2100, but
I would assume that doesn't help for this AlphaStation 500).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom
