HSZ40 StorageWorks shelves: capable of change to stand-alone?

Hi-

We have 6 StorageWorks shelves behind dual-redundant HSZ40s,
which are connected to our AS8400 via a single KZPSA SCSI adapter.
The system has several other unused KZPSA adapters.

Is it possible to reconfigure the StorageWorks shelves as stand-alone,
such that they can be directly-connected to KZPSA SCSI adapters
(eliminating the HSZ40s)?
