How do I debug why a box crashed, and both kernel file corrupted.

Gurus,

I had a mission critical 4.0D box die on the weekend and both vmunix and genvmunix files had been corrupted, leaving me with no kernel. I managed to get things working from CD, and now I am left with the Monday morning storm.

What is the best way for me to look at this box, and the rememences of cores, and logs file to determine what happened and why it crashed.

Any guidance that can be given would be great. Thanks very much.
