How to change system disk with a hardware mirror

Hello,
I am about to change the system disk on a AlphaServer 4100 which actually is
connected to a SCSI controller (I can't remember if it is a KZPCM or a
KZPAA) with a hardware mirroring using a KZPAC controller and another
DS-RZ1DF-VW disk in the BA356 shelf.
Without having to reinstall the operating system (Digital Unix V4.0E) and
the applications my question is what would be the proper procedure for doing
this ?
Should I need to build the kernel support for the KZPAC first and then move
the SCSI cables and run SWXCRMGR to configure the mirrorset ?
And if it is so which is the right way to build the new kernel to add the
support for the new card ?
Can the system boot from the new mirrored disk after the vrestore of all
filesystems ?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
