vdump confused by disappearing files

Sometimes on my 4.0f system, some unwanted files are being deleted
while vdump is running. Its output shows a couple of entries like

vdump: unable to get info for file <./path/filename>; [2] No such file or directory

Here it stops reporting numbers and percentages completed, gives no final
100% completed line, and moves on to backing up the next filesystem which
it performs without complaint.

It seems that vdump has given up on that filesystem completely and moved
on to do its jolly best with the next one. But I need to know for sure.

Could anyone confirm with certainty, is the resulting backup tape
 a useless
b only good for restoring the other filesystems
c good for this filesystem "up to" (from vdump's perspective) that missing file
d good for restoring all files except the ones that were being deleted
