Cannot boot with kernel error.

Hello,

While trying to tune the kernel on my system to handle memory a little bit better, I have seemed to have corrupted the kernel somewhat.  When the machine is in the boot process it displays loading the vmunix kernel and scrolls an error rather quickly about a memory fault and dumps back to the console, (something about an illegal memory access).  I have tried to boot off of the genvmunix kernel but that also creates the error and dumps back to the console.  I do have a CD but it is a rev back.  Is there anything that can be done to gain a stable kernel that will allow me to rebuild without having to re-install?

Thanks,
Charles
