Hello all,
I only recieved one message from Dave Love. He said that this error
"suggests a broken `unexec'." He also asked why I wasn't trying
to compile a more recent version. I was a little nervous to use
xemacs 21.4.8 since it was a "gamma" version and not in the "stable"
list, but I gave it a shot and it worked. Thanks!!

Hello,
I'm having some trouble compiling xemacs 21.1.14 on tru64unix 5.1a.
I'm using gcc 3.0.2 and gnumake 3.79.1.
This is the configure command that I used:
./configure alpha-dec-osf1 --prefix=/usr/local/xemacs --with-x11=yes
(I tried specifying alpha-dec-osf1 because if I don't it says that
xemacs isn't ported to 5.1a yet)
I get the following error when I try to do a make.
EMACSBOOTSTRAPLOADPATH="/usr/local/src/xemacs-21.1.14/src/../lisp/:/usr/local/src/xemacs-21.1.14" ./temacs -batch -l /usr/local/src/xemacs-21.1.14/src/../lisp/update-elc.el
/bin/sh: 66203 Memory fault - core dumped
make[1]: *** [update-elc.stamp] Error 139
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/xemacs-21.1.14/src'
make: *** [src] Error 2
I tried to use the /usr/bin/cc compiler that is already on the machine
(V6.4-014) and /sbin/make, but it dies in the same spot. I've been
searching the web to get some clues, but I'm not finding anything
helpful.
Has anyone seen this error and/or have suggestions how to fix it?
Has anyone successfully compiled xemacs on tru64unix 5.1a? If so,
what version? Does anyone know if there are any sites with
precompiled binaries for tru64unix that I could use?
Thanks in advance for your help!
